GMO Human Rights Poster

Human Rights Honor's Project
This was created for my Illustrator honor’s project. We were instructed to choose a human rights law and make a poster supporting it. I chose the human right to adequate food and nutrition, which also included the legality to obtain food by any means necessary for survival. My mind was automatically drawn to GMO products and the new GMO potato that was being created. While most countries have either banned GMO’s or label them appropriately, the United States is the only country to not mandate GMO labels on GMO foods. For something that is controversially detrimental to human health, I thought that the lack of labeling potentially dangerous food is taking our “choice” of acquiring acceptable nutrients for consumption away, which in turn is going against our human rights. Therefore, my inspiration was immediately drawn to an army of genetically modified food turning into mutant scientists threatening to experiment on this person, who is trapped in ignorance due to the USA’s lack to label our food.
